Hunting for Sales on Clothing and Accessories

January 4th, 2021

In this 21st century, man (and, more relevantly, woman) has a hard time expressing that most powerful primeval instinct – the hunt. Some people play paintball, others risk their necks learning parkour, but the most intelligent and well adapted ones (again, mostly women!) go sales hunting. The similarities between modern and age-old hunting are not few – let’s take a look!

The first thing a hunter does is learn the habits of his chosen prey. In our case, it’s a matter of taste – favorite brands, latest fashion in accessories, new finds indicated by friends or listed in glossy magazines. Then, the modern hunter learns when it is most likely that sales will occur: most often they are centered on important moments of the year, such as the start of the school year, Christmas, the beginning of spring etc.

Inexperienced sales hunters might start out by visiting all the shops advertising big sales. Surely we were all lured at least once by colorful posters with two-figure discounts on display. However, one soon learns that all that glitters is not gold (only extreme sizes, small fabrication or handling flaws etc); the feeling at the end of an unworthy sales hunt trip is so unpleasant that the lesson soon is learned.

In the animal kingdom, marking the territory is a simple and efficient way of letting other hunters know where they are not allowed to come. Civilized society has eliminated this method, possibly as too coarse, and the result is often overcrowding to the point where ambulances become involved. The aftermath of a mass of sale-crazed ladies raiding the racks of discounted clothes can be disquietingly similar to the legendary locust invasions of the Old Testament.

The marvelous solution to all these problems is found in the ever-growing, ever-evolving online space. Websites specialized in picking up promotions and discounts use special intelligent software to gather and filter more offers than any one person could access by regular means. Think of this tool as a cross between a pack of keen hunting dogs and clever, well-trained personal assistant and you’ve got a general idea – have fun!
